Capstones is an opportunity for graduating students to direct their own authentic learning experience while working with a community expert and building 21st century skills so that they are prepared for college, modern careers, and adult life--in line with the district’s mission statement of ensuring all students have the knowledge, skills and character to thrive in a changing world. Completing a capstone project is a graduation requirement. Juniors and seniors are guided through the Capstones process in crew.

Get Involved!

The Roaring Fork Schools invites community members from all backgrounds to be a community expert to students! Student projects will be on a variety of topics and require varying levels of commitment. Some projects will require a one-time consultation with an expert, while other projects will need ongoing guidance over the course of the semester. The student and community expert will discuss how often and through what means they will communicate about the student’s project--this is truly an opportunity tailored to the student’s and community expert’s interests and preferences. Please note that community experts who meet with a student four or more times must submit fingerprints and get a background check per the Roaring Fork Schools' volunteery policy.

Interested individuals are invited to submit their information through our community expert interest form (available in English or Spanish), and then wait for a student to contact you!
